Teams can extend Epic's functionality using mobile devices and app add-ons. Epic's Haiku application streamlines workflows and enables clinicians to document a patient's condition in real time. A 620-bed teaching hospital used Epic's Haiku to capture pressure ulcers (PI) present on admission and their precise anatomical location. Identification of PIs present at admission, known as community-acquired pressure ulcers (CAPIs), improves patient care by helping teams efficiently allocate scarce resources. An institution's ability to distinguish CAPI from hospital-acquired pressure ulcers (HAPIs) affects quality improvement initiatives, liability, and reimbursement. In addition, the application streamlined the organization's incident reporting system by assisting in the timely identification of HAPIs and auto-completion of mandatory fields, reducing nursing documentation time.

Testimony: Epic's Haiku reduced nurses' hours reporting incidents by more than 2,000 hours per year.¹The system also increased the rapid and accurate identification of PIs from 30% to 90%, improving compliance in identifying PIs present at admission.^1,2Another important result was the identification of 210 multi-visit patients (MVPs),¹enables the organization to use a multidisciplinary approach, with links to community resources, to improve the health of these vulnerable individuals.

Expedite is a nutritional product to support wound healing. What makes it unique is that it's only a small 2-ounce serving once a day. Many of the earlier products required the patient to drink 8 to 10 ounces twice a day, making adherence to the nutritional care plan difficult. Expedite contains L-citrulline and collagen dipeptides, which stimulate fibroblast activity. L-citrulline has been proposed as a more effective alternative to increase plasma nitric oxide (NO) levels. Citrulline is first converted to arginine in the bloodstream and then to NO in the cells. Expedite has 30 times as many dipeptides as regular collagen. It is available in peach-mango flavour.

Kerecis has more than 30 publications; including level 1 evidence. Some of Kerecis' level 1 evidence includes better efficacy over standard care, pig transplants and amniocentesis/chorion grafts. Kerecis has also been shown to be more cost-effective with variations in size and micrografts to facilitate patient care.
