Programming Adventures in Alice
Alice is a 3D virtual world programming environment that makes it easy for middle and high school teachers to create animations for storytelling or interactive games in the classroom and for presentations. A three-week summer course for teachers in the Durham, NC area helps them use Alice and develop lesson plans with the help of Duke faculty and students.

CIBL: The Center for Inquiry-Based Learning
CIBL comprises a group of scientists and science educators who develop exercises and train teachers in the application of hands-on, multidisciplinary intellectual discovery methods for K-8 science education. The goal is to enrich science teaching in schools and to make science more accessible and interesting to a wide range of students with different skill levels and educational backgrounds.

Chemie-Outreach-Programm
The focus of the Chemistry Outreach program is to share chemistry with the community through chemical demonstrations and/or hands-on activities that take place in a variety of settings, including schools, universities, libraries, and museums. Each program is tailored to the needs of the person or persons requesting a presentation. The presentations are intended to be informative and provide positive role models for people interested in and enthusiastic about chemistry.

Women Excelling More in Math, Engineering and Science is an annual one-day event that offers girls in grades 4-6 an exciting and hands-on experience. MUSIC: Mathematical Understanding Through Curriculum-Integrated Science
MUSIC is a curriculum extension program that focuses on integrating technical problem solving into the standard course of study. MUSIC places graduate and undergraduate teaching fellows from the Pratt School of Engineering in elementary and secondary schools throughout North Carolina. Teaching Fellows spend 10 hours a week at their partner school helping teachers create and deliver hands-on activities that provide meaningful contexts in which children apply math and science concepts. This program is part of the PhD program in Engineering K.

PLTW: Project manager The way
PLTW is a pre-engineering program for middle and high school students that aims to create dynamic partnerships with our nation's schools to prepare a growing and more diverse group of students for success in engineering and engineering technology programs. Courses such as Digital Electronics, Introduction to Engineering Design, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Bioengineering, and Aerospace Engineering provide students with the opportunity to apply mathematical and scientific concepts to solve real-world problems. RoboCupJunior
RoboCupJunior is an educational initiative that helps student teams build and program mobile robots to solve a variety of challenges. Students learn and apply the scientific, mathematical, and technological fundamentals of robot construction and control algorithm design. Robotics-related and scientific research demonstrations at Duke complement weekly after-school meetups at the Durham School of the Arts with undergraduate mentors. The project staff organizes competitions for students and workshops for interested teachers.

SENSOR: Engineering Student Network: strengthening research opportunities Saturday Academy
SENSOR Saturday Academy is a pilot program for twenty-eighth graders in North Carolina that aims to reach underrepresented minority students with an aptitude for math and science but little exposure to scientific inquiry as a career. During four Saturday sessions, students are exposed to inquiry-based learning and inquiry through the study of sensors used to assess water quality. In the fifth session, students apply the skills learned in the program during a field trip to the Duke Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, NC.

Techtronics is an after-school science enrichment program that introduces students to four engineering areas: electrical and computer engineering, biomedical, civil, and mechanical engineering. Duke TIP Scholar Weekends offers academically gifted students in grades 8-11 the opportunity to take short courses during weekend programs at Duke University and select universities. The courses introduce a wide range of subjects, including advanced science, that may not be available at students' local schools. Coursework provides enrichment, sharpens skills, and helps students define pathways to careers and college majors. Summer Science Detectives at Duke
Summer Science Sleuths at Duke is a two-week recreational summer camp presented by the Duke Center for Science Education on the Duke University campus in Durham, NC.
Active, bright and curious campers are selected through an online application process. We are looking for campers who have a wide range of interests, including science (even if science is not their primary interest). Summer Science Sleuths will engage a diverse group of campers from across the United States. Campers will find that almost everything they do is related to science. Along the way, campers may also discover that science is fun and that science is a key part of their future, regardless of their chosen career path. Campers will explore the world of science through hands-on activities, games, puzzles, field trips, social events, crafts, fun activities, visits with Duke's “Superstar Scientists” and more.
